Sustainable Procurement

Sumitomo Corporation Group's Material Issues

In April 2017, Sumitomo Corporation Group identified its material issues that illustrate the relationships between its business activities and society. They have defined the Six Material Issues to achieve Sustainable Growth with Society as an important factor in developing business strategies and in the decision-making process for individual businesses. Going forward, we at SC Foods will pursue sustainable growth by resolving these issues through our business activities.

  • Enhancing Governance
  • Achieving Harmony with the Global Environment
  • Establishing a Foundation for Comfortable and Enriching Lifestyles
  • Developing Human Resources and Promoting Diversity
  • Contributing to the Development of Local Communities and Industries
  • Providing Diverse “Accessibility”

SC Foods possesses resources across a broad range of food-related fields, from procurement to logistics. By aligning those resources to achieve a sustainable society, we would be able to change existing profit structure and increase economic value while simultaneously creating new social values. In these days, in addition to being safe, reliable, and high in quality, attractive food products and ingredients need to be associated with initiatives toward addressing environmental and social issues in all stages from procurement of raw materials to distribution. Such initiatives include consideration to the environment, preservation of natural resources, and respect for human rights of workers in relation to the supply chain. Integrating sustainability into core business strategies, we will continue to pursue new challenges and innovations as a member of the Sumitomo Corporation Group that continues to expand globally, by focusing on customer needs and providing attractive food products and ingredients that contribute to a sustainable future.
